As the 2018 SF Bay Area NAIOP Chapter President, I want to thank our members and sponsors for their participation. It is with their assistance and support that the San Francisco Chapter has become one of the most dynamic Chapters in the country, now ranking as the 10th largest with 657 members compared to 372 in 2013. In addition, NAIOP SFBA has produced multiple trend-setting initiatives over the years from the Best of the Bay annual awards event to the Real Estate Challenge, as well as mentoring and developing the next generation of leadership in our industry through its annual Young Professionals Group.
Our Chapter’s efforts are focused on improving the professional lives of our members by:
- Providing networking opportunities to help members to develop relationships leading to more productive and enjoyable careers
- Establishing educational opportunities through programming that allows members to broaden their knowledge base and grow
- Informing members about potential legislative changes that impact our industry and proactively working to limit negative consequences
With more than 50 events last year, we are exceeding our targets to create layered and varied opportunities for our members to learn, grow and connect. Our Chapter’s launch and development of the Young Professionals Group has been instrumental in allowing us to diversify and foster developing leaders. Through our collaboration with other trade associations in CREATE, we are looking to help train and mentor students into future professionals to help our industry meet its staffing needs going forward in a competitive environment.
Going into 2018, we are looking to improve upon our performance and relevance with our colleagues in the industrial property sector, continue our efforts to broaden and diversify our membership and refine and develop programs that appeal to our membership and their goals.
It remains an exciting time to be a real estate professional in the San Francisco Bay Area and there has never been a better time to become involved in the Bay Area’s most significant real estate association. I can say that I personally have benefited from NAIOP involvement in more ways than I could have expected. Don’t hesitate to commit and become involved yourself!
Please reach out to me, our board members or staff with any questions, comments or feedback.
Thank you for the privilege and honor of serving as your President in 2018.
